First thing I noticed is all of the American cars and the variety of them. Being a happy go lucky guy I of course noticed the beautiful women as well. They just keep coming too. Wow, and I still have two hours before my flight.
I'm actually out here to see one of them today but it'll be a little bit before I see Grace waiting for me at my final destination. I'll be enjoying the Islands of Aloha for the next week and a half, but it won't all be vacation. Sure it'll be a lot of fun becoming reacquainted with my "Roastbeef" (more on that later) but I will also be job hunting out here. I plan on barnstorming the local media outlets like a champ and the task will challenging at best.

(Is this not the cutest kid? Her name is Asahi, after the beer--something her dad proudly admitted)
While I am a confirmed island boy now, it's not the same here as Saipan. Maybe that's what I need. I'm in love with the ocean and the people of the Marianas but I might have to take leave of my new home should the right offer come along these next 10 days.
It's so freakin' big here! The roads, the mountains, the, well, everything. And while people aren't any less friendly here than back home on Saipan, it's a little weird not knowing at least someone everywhere I go. I keep looking around expecting to see someone I recognize but I keep coming up as empty as my bank account.
(Here's a little glimpse of what I saw when I got off of the plane in Honolulu)
There's a lot of white people out here too! And I don't know them! What a shocker. I know I'm back in the United States and all so I should get used to it but it's still weird. And I just realized that this is the first time that I've been back in the States in over four years. We seem so imperial with our Homeland Security videos on the plane. It must be intimidating for first timers coming to the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave.
After living far from the Amber Waves of Grain for so long it's easier to see the US of A from an outsider's perspective and it's interesting to say the least. Still love the place though. For better or worse, it's where I'm from.
(Oh yeah, they have a Starbucks out here too. Man, it's been like forever since I got some of that goodness in me. Maybe it's time for some of their brown high octane juice)

Bring Grace back! We miss her. Tell her "Hi" from all the soccer women.
My Education professor named his daughter Absynth. If I have another baby (yeah right) I think I'll consider Agave.
As the Beatles would sing it; 'I don't know why you say aloha, I say aloha'.
Fields of grain? On Hawaii? Are you sure it's not pakalolo?
Oh, and... good luck.
I miss Starbucks!! I love moca frappacino!
I miss you, too.(^_^)
Love your writing style. when are you coming back. we miss you!
Thanks for the report, Brad. I think you may be a bit geographically challenged, however. Look at a map, check out the relative positions of Japan, Saipan and Honolulu. What in the fuck are you doing in J if you are going to H from S? (:-))
when does the cliche "Home is where the heart is" apply to you? I guess when you're not at home....bring home the bacon (and some good stuff too). Good luck!
