Is that the meaning of life? Well, it kind of is for mine right now.
While I have changed a few things, a lot of my regular every day routine hasn't been altered one bit. The one who is shouldering most of the load is Kathy. She has been an absolute superstar mother. If they handed out an award for motherhood, Kathy would win it. Her dedication to Keoni started when we found out he was on the way and she's been a woman on a mission ever since.
I can't wait until Keoni is a little stronger and for his personality to develop so I can read his expressions as meaningful reactions instead of passing gas. That doesn't mean that I'm not enjoying the time we spend together just hanging out.
The past couple of days have brought about a change in our little man. He is no longer to eat and sleep his day away. Now it seems that he wants to "hang out," as Kathy put it this afternoon. That's what we did while Kathy ran out to do some errands today.
The little man and I went outside to look at the sky, the trees, birds, the dogs and everything that isn't on the inside of our house. The short trips outside seem to make him happy, and that makes me happy. Right now taking him into the yard is my "go to" move when it comes to cheering him up.
Actually, he usually quiets down soon after I pick him up. Kathy's family made a few jokes about the way I hold him and move around while we were int he hospital but my "moves" seem to do the trick when it comes to quelling the reb-yell-ion.
That's about where I am for now on the fatherhood front. More on that stuff later.
